TV, Radio & Public Speaking

I’ve appeared on TV, radio and podcasts chatting about all manner of things. I also regularly give talks, presentations and workshops on self-help, wellbeing and my career at workplaces, universities and schools.

BYU Radio (Utah)

In March 2021, I re-joined hosts Lisa and Richie on ‘The Lisa Show’ to discuss all things friendship-related. Hooked off my book Friends for Life, we discussed making friends as adults, establishing boundaries, offering support and knowing when it’s time to cut people loose or enjoy a frenaissance. Have a listen here.

BYU Radio (Utah)

On 14 Feb 2021, I appeared on BYU, a national Utah-based radio station, about ‘Mindfulness in Minutes’, based upon my book, This Book Will Make You Mindful. You can listen to the interview here.

Perspectives Podcast: Lockdown Diaries

In May 2020 I was a guest on the UK-based Perspectives Podcast, discussing what it’s like to be a British expat ‘locked down’ in another country – in my case, the Netherlands, where I’m based. Have a watch here.

BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour

I appeared on Radio 4 Woman’s Hour discussing the effect of social networking on relationships. The picture here doesn’t really sum up what we were talking about, but my name’s there and that’s all that matters. Click on the link above to have a listen.

(Jessamy, my co-author of six titles in the This Book Will series, and I have appeared on numerous shows throughout the last six or seven years discussing the books, self-help, CBT, wellbeing and why looking after your mental health is so important. A couple of these discussions should be available to listen to on the “Book Press” page.)

Jo Usmar on Sky News

Sky News

I was invited to appear on Adam Boulton’s show on Sky News (Friday 13 April 2012) to debate whether the women who attend Aintree Ladies’ Day dressed up like carnival queens are an embarrassment. I argued that of course they’re not – who wouldn’t want to wear blue leopard print chaps to the races? This is the view I expressed in an article I wrote for Mirror Online which you can read by clicking here.
