Jo Usmar

I am a bestselling author and ghostwriter, a freelance content editor, copywriter and journalist.

I have reported on travel, women’s rights, mental health, entertainment, sport, wellbeing and celebrity for titles including Stylist, Women’s Health, Cosmopolitan, Red, Marie Claire, Balance, Good Housekeeping and Fabulous. I was Cosmopolitan’s resident columnist for 18 months, warbling about my life in both the mag and online. I have interviewed everyone from Joan Collins to One Direction and once got stuck in a lift with Shakira.

I also work as a branded content editor for both Stylist Media and Hearst, managing and creating advertorial and sponsored content for major brands across print, digital, video and social platforms.

You can see some of my work, both editorial and commercial, here.

With my author hat on I have penned eight books in the bestselling This Book Will Make You…wellbeing series. Based upon CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), they are packed with tools, strategies and expert advice to tackle whatever issues you’re facing in your life. They have been translated into 15 languages including ‘Simple Chinese’ which looks amazing, but could say absolutely anything.

As a ghostwriter I wrote a health and fitness book with a celebrity that made the top 10 UK bestsellers list in Jan 2019.

I have appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Women’s Hour and Sky News discussing my work, and contributed to many articles for other journalists on topics related to my books.
